Denise Richards Biography
Denise Lee Richards is an American actress, television personality, and former fashion model. She was born on February 17, 1971, in Downers Grove, Illinois, and later moved to California.
Denise Richards graduated from El Camino High School in 1989, and began her career in modeling as a teenager. She appeared in print ads for Bonne Bell cosmetics in 1991, and also graced the cover of Teen magazine, and she appeared in Max Factor’s Premiere 2K advertising campaign.
In the 1993, Denise Richards made her first appearance on the big screen in Loaded Weapon 1. This was the start of many appearances, including Tammy and the T-Rex (1994), and Lookin’ Italian (1994). Additionally, she guest-starred in popular shows such as Saved by the Bell, Married… with Children, and Doogie Howser, M.D.
Denise Richards was cast as Ben Affleck’s character’s girlfriend named Jodi Collins in the short-lived drama series Against the Grain in 1993. On TV, she made guest appearances in Beverly Hills, 90210 (1992), Seinfeld (1993), and Lois and Clark (1994). She had a guest-arc in Melrose Place (1996) and appeared in a made-for-TV movie In the Blink of an Eye (1995) alongside Veronica Hamel and Mimi Rogers.
In 1997, Denise Richards landed her first starring role in a wide theatrical release in the film Starship Troopers. She was nominated for the Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Favorite Female Newcomer for her role, and the film grossed $121.2 million worldwide.
Richards followed this with a role in the erotic thriller film Wild Things (1998) with Kevin Bacon, Matt Dillon, and Neve Campbell.
A year later, Denise Richards was cast as the nuclear physicist Dr Christmas Jones in the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough (1999), although she was criticised for playing a nuclear physicist in skimpy shorts and a tank top.
Later that year, she starred alongside Kirsten Dunst in the beauty pageant satire, Drop Dead Gorgeous, where she played a spoiled princess and was praised for her performance by Los Angeles Times.
Denise Richards continued her career in the 2000s, appearing in various films such as Valentine (2001), Good Advice (2001), Undercover Brother (2002), The Third Wheel (2002), and You Stupid Man (2002). She played Annie Logan in Scary Movie 3 (2003), which was a commercial success and grossed $220 million worldwide.
Richards made a brief appearance in the British romantic comedy Love Actually (2003) and appeared in two films in 2004: Whore and Elvis Has Left the Building.
In 2005, Denise Richards played the lead role of publicist Jolene in the short-lived UPN soap opera Sex, Love & Secrets. She starred in the ensemble drama film Edmond (2005) alongside William H. Macy and Mena Suvari.
In August 2018, Denise Richards joined the cast of the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills for the show’s ninth season, which premiered in February 2019. In 2019, she joined the cast of CBS’ soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful as Shauna Fulton.
Richards starred in the Christmas film My Adventures with Santa (2019) opposite Patrick Muldoon. In 2020, Richards starred in the adventure drama series Glow & Darkness, portraying the role of Countess of Champagne.
In 2020, Richards was busy, appearing in a total of five films: Money Plane, Switched, Reality Queen!, Alpha Code and Timecrafters: The Treasure of Pirate’s Cove. In 2021, she played Amanda in Lifetime’s thriller film Killer Cheer Mom.
In her personal life, Denise Richards was engaged to actor Charlie Sheen from December 26, 2001, and married him on June 15, 2002. The couple has two daughters together, Sam J. Sheen and Lola Rose Sheen.
Richards filed for divorce from Sheen in March 2005, while pregnant with their second daughter. She sought a restraining order against Sheen, alleging death threats against her. The divorce was finalized on November 30, 2006, and Sheen was ordered to stay 300 feet away from his ex-wife and their daughters except during supervised visits.
Denise Richards began dating Aaron Phypers in December 2017, and they got married in September 2018.
