Tania Mallet Biography
Tania Mallet, born on May 19, 1941, in Blackpool, was a British actress and model with a unique background. Her mother, Olga Mironoff, was a former chorus girl and Russian noblewoman, while her father, Henry Mallet, was a millionaire car salesman.
Tania’s maternal grandfather, Pyotr, owned a family estate near Gzhatsk and was a member of the Russian aristocracy. Her cousin was the renowned actress Helen Mirren.
Tania Mallet studied at the Lucy Clayton School of Modelling and started work as a model at just 16 years old. She a successful model and graced the cover of Vogue twice in 1961.
Her acting career started with a part in Michael Winner’s short documentary film Girls Girls Girls. Tania Mallet auditioned for the role of Tatiana Romanova in From Russia with Love, but her English accent deemed her unsuitable. However, a photo of her wearing a bikini caught the eye of the producer, Albert Broccoli, who gave her the part of would-be Bond girl Tilly Masterson in 1964 film Goldfinger. Despite the film’s success, it was her only acting role in a film.
Tania made an appearance as Sara in The New Avengers TV show, episode The Midas Touch in 1976. Tania married Simon Radcliffe in 1976, and became stepmother to his children. She passed away on March 30, 2019, at the age of 77.
