Pola Ivanova: The Seductive Soviet Spy in A View to a Kill
Pola Ivanova is a skilled Soviet intelligence operative working for the KGB. She comes to life in the 1985 James Bond film, A View to a Kill, where she’s portrayed by British actress Fiona Fullerton.
As the plot unfolds, we find Pola Ivanova among a group of agents selected to keep a close eye on Max Zorin, an industrialist and former-operative who has recently gone rogue, and she’s an old acquaintance of James Bond’s and they team up again.
Pola Ivanova, a Soviet agent from James Bond’s past, is spying on Max Zorin’s oil-pumping station when her partner, Klotkoff, gets caught and executed. Bond discerns that she has recorded a damning conversation between Max Zorin and his oil company head, Bob Conley.
As they emerge from the ocean, Bond and Ivanova engage in a fight on the beach until they recognize each other. While escaping, Bond overlooks the fact that a second car is trailing them.
Later on, Bond encounters Pola and seduces her in a hot tub at the Nippon Relaxation Spa. Despite his efforts, he cannot extract any information about Zorin, as Pola insists on keeping business and pleasure separate.
As Bond dries off in another room, he playfully calls out to Pola, promising to send her a dozen red roses. Ivanova, while covertly searching Bond’s possessions, appreciates the kind gesture before slipping away to the car that had been following her, driven by her superior, General Gogol.
With pride, Ivanova hands Gogol the cassette, but upon playing it, they realize that Bond has swapped the incriminating tape with classical Japanese music from the spa.
Pola Ivanova’s fate remains uncertain after this incident.
