Ana de Armas Suggests Paul Mescal as Next James Bond
During a recent tête-à-tête with Chris Evans on Wired’s Web’s Most Searched Questions, Ana de Armas, the captivating starlet who graced the screen in No Time To Die, shared her thoughts on who should be the next James Bond.
As CIA agent, Paloma, Ana de Armas delivered a performance that, albeit fleeting, was nothing short of mesmerizing. Naturally, her association with the Bond franchise has left fans eager for her input on the next 007.
Cuban, de Armas, with a twinkle in her eye, proposed the dashing Paul Mescal of Normal People fame as the next James Bond. “I think Paul Mescal should be the one,” she replied, with Evans adding: “Paul Mescal’s great.”
Despite rampant speculation, producer, Barbara Broccoli recently dispelled rumours of active casting. “No, we haven’t even started casting yet,” she said in an interview, adding: “There isn’t even a script.”
The Names in the Mix and Daisy May Cooper’s Humorous Rebuttal
Names such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill are regularly touted as being the next to don the tuxedo. British actor Harris Dickinson recently threw his name into the ring, but the long-rumored Idris Elba said last year that playing Bond was “not a goal for [his] career.”
Rumours have also swirled around Taskmaster‘s Daisy May Cooper potentially donning the mantle of MI6 chief, M, most recently played by Ralph Fiennes. However, the indomitable Ms. Cooper recently doused the flames of speculation with a healthy dose of humour at the Royal Television Society Awards, saying, “I can’t be there because I’m filming Bond… jokes, the only M I’ll ever be is Mental.”
Casting Director Debbie McWilliams recently rubbished any rumours about who the next Bond will be. “When I hear about who the bookies’ favourites are, and who’s number 15 and all this kind of thing,” she said. “I mean, it’s just hilarious – and the fact that people are remotely interested is even funnier, I think. It’s a curious phenomenon, is all I can say!”

As the world holds its breath in anticipation of the next chapter in the storied Bond legacy, the conjecture surrounding the iconic character only adds to the mystique.
There are many names in the mix, but we do know the producers generally surprise everyone and go for a lesser known. This has led many to speculate that Henry Cavill might be “too famous”. Aaron Taylor-Johnson isn’t exactly unknown on global terms either, so that would rule out the 2 favourites, if so.
One thing is certain: when the actor for Bond 26 is finally revealed, the ripples of excitement will be felt far and wide.
